Steve found a potential E-ink supplier and got us a sample!! If E-ink is going to work, this is going to be the display that makes it happen!
Great news, Steve found a company who gave us a reasonable price estimate for circular E-ink! It's still expensive relative to other display technologies, but they had two extra screens available that they sent us for prototyping and they look fantastic.
We'd still love to get the bulk price down a little bit more so that we can hit our margins, but for now we're going to run with it and see what kind of device we can make in our dream configuration. This screen is super thin, high resolution, and should be extra durable, so Andy and Ted are off and running to put the final touches on our housing and PCB to accommodate it. Soon we should have our first fully housed and functional unit!!
(Also a thumbs-up to this supplier for sending us the sample in a re-purposed scrap box!)
